I had an entirely different recipe set for today's Mangia Mangia post. And then our sweet friends Emily & her husband Jackson brought these delicious bad boys to our Oscar Party last night! I grabbed the last one after hearing our crowd start gushing over these little sliders & promptly started begging Emily to spill the beans on her recipe. Since the last scrumptious bite ended up in my belly, there was no picture to be had, but the one above is a close replica. At any rate, I think y'all will love these too. They're super simple to make, pack a punch of incredible flavor, and make a grand statement for any party.
For the Burgers -
1 lb ground turkey
1 lb ground chicken
1 1/2 TB fresh ginger, minced
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp curry powder
1 garlic clove, minced
12 small dinner rolls, toasted
kosher salt & freshly ground pepper, to taste
For the sauce -
1/2 cup Duke's mayo
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1 TB garlic chili sauce
2-3 TB hot curry paste
1 TB lt brown sugar
1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, yogurt, chili sauce, curry paste & sugar. Refrigerate.
2. Preheat grill (or skillet if you want to pan fry) to medium heat. In a large mixing bowl, stir together turkey, chicken, ginger, curry powder & garlic until well blended. Form into slider-sized patties, 1/3 cup of mix at a time, and season with salt & pepper. Grill 4-5 minutes per side until done.
3. Serve sliders on buttered & toasted dinner rolls topped with spicy sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion slices and sliced cucumbers (or pickles if you prefer).
Oh my word these are the best mini burgers I've ever eaten! We had enough food to feed an army, but Emily's sliders were gone in a skinny minute. Everybody loved these and especially the spicy sauce. I'm racking my brain right now trying to find an excuse to get these on our dinner menu this week! Hope y'all like these as much as we did.
Now I can't end an Oscar recap (of sorts) without talking about the most important part of the night... the fashion!! We filled out ballots, played Oscar bingo, and dabbled in a Billy Crystal drinking game, but the most heated debate was about the gowns. The gowns!! There were so many fabulous looks it was tough to narrow down our choices, but here are the top 5 from the Garner Oscar Party:
1. Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab 2. Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton
3. Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji 4. Leslie Mann in Roberto Cavalli
5. Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford

Rounding out our top 10, honorable mentions go out to Cameron Diaz (in Gucci),
Giuliana Rancic (Tony Ward), Jennifer Lopez (Zuhair Murad) and Angelina Jolie (Versace Atelier).
Speaking of Angelina, what was up with her bizarre poses? It was awkward watching her try to work that slit. My personal fave from the night though has to go to Michelle Williams in that
gorgeous coral gown with the peplum.
From head to toe, she was absolutely flawless!

So who were your best dressed nominees? What did you love about last night's Oscars?
And let me know what you think of the Spicy Bombay Sliders!
Happy Monday everybody - have a terrific week!

Those sliders look so yummy! I loved Gwyneth's Dress and Michelle Williams bow brooch!
The sliders look fantastic. What was up with Angelina pose off? It was so awkward. I thought Penelope Cruz looked beautiful!
I may give those sliders a try (make a black bean version for myself) with the hubby and kids. They'll yum them up!
Oscar fashion...hmmm, well, I loved Penelope Cruz's gown and I echo the poster above who pointed to Natalie Portman—she's just so lovely. I also adored the green on Glenn Close and that beautiful blue on Tina Fey.
BTW, I said a silent 'hello' to my favorite NC couple as we drove through Charlotte late yesterday evening. We were coming back from VA and I just couldn't help but think of you two :)
I really think Octavia ended up being my favorite!

Ugh, Angelina looked terrible; she needs some of those sliders!
