- Tornadoes once again ripped through Alabama & Arkansas Sunday night. Alabama still has not recovered fully from April's devastating storms. It's just heartbreaking to think these people have to endure this. Again. We're so thankful that all of Jeff's family scattered from Tuscaloosa to Birmingham are safe, praise God.
- If you wish to help the additional 200+ families whose homes were destroyed, here's a list of ways you can donate & volunteer.
- Taking Jeff to the airport this morning. He's flying out for 10 days on business to Hong Kong. Wish I could've taken the time away from work to travel with him. If you are so inclined, we'd appreciate any prayers for safe travel please. Thank you!
- Jeff travels quite a bit, so Bailey (our Husky) & I are used to him being gone, but hate it nonetheless. I was never nervous to stay by myself until I got married. Weird huh?
- I took half the day off yesterday to hang out with Jeff. We went on a trail run and then saw Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. Very rarely does a movie live up to a book for me, but this was exceptional. We absolutely loved it!
- For dinner last night I made the Walnut Chicken I mentioned yesterday and it was divine. In addition to a salad & yeast rolls, I also made this incredible Wild Rice Casserole from Beth Eats. Just 4 ingredients folks. Sooo good!
- Have you seen Jon Stewart's recap of Obama's SOTU Address from Tuesday? High-larious. "You open with 'I killed Bin Laden'?" Stewart asked, incredulous. "Does Rick Springfield open with 'Jessie's Girl'? No!" Here's the clip.
- Was never a fan of Oprah. Ever. But we caught her new "Next Chapter" show interviewing New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. It was incredibly well done. The advice Gov Chritie received from his Mother about respect & love was an aha moment for me:
"If you must choose between respect & love, choose respect. When someone respects you, there's always hope that love will come. But if someone loves you without respecting you, love will eventually fade." Check your local listings for the replay & watch it.
- For your inner geek: NASA released Blue Marble 2012 yesterday, the most high def image of earth. It's pretty magnificent. I've never felt smaller & more insignificant, and that's a good thing.
- Can't stop listening & singing Madeleine Peyroux's Don't Wait Too Long. Her voice & music is this beautiful blend of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. Swoon. Also, she's an Athens, Georgia native, which of course means she's aces in my book.
- Speaking of Athens, tomorrow is Founder's Day for my alma mater UGA, 227 years! Ever crowned with praise and glory, Georgia, hail to thee.
- I hate new new twitter.
- I love Trader Joe's crunchy curls. And my new post-run freeze treat (via lovely friend Mrs M): 1 banana + 2.5 TB nutella, blend & freeze. It's like a chocolate banana frosty. Amazing!
So that's my brain dump. What's on your minds today y'all?

That picture of Earth is so amazing, thanks for sharing!
The picture of the earth was my favorite! Love the whole list though!
LOL, you do have a lot whirling around! I hope all goes well with your DH's trip and at home. Things always seem to break/go wrong when my DH is out of town...seriously!
Happy Thursday!
sending safe travel vibes to your husband + safe staying-at-home-alone vibes to you + the pup. =) so glad that you + jeff got to spend some quality time together yesterday before his big trip -- too sweet.
i love love love madeleine peyroux + we were lucky enough to hear her live before. absolutely amazing. she's one of my go-to musicians to put on when i'm cooking or entertaining. such a lovely voice!
Erin & Amy: Right? That image blew me away when I saw it too, especially next to the other historic images. So glad y'all liked it too!
Michelle: Ha! That's just half of it ;) Thanks so much for the kind wishes!
Amy: Thank you so much, doll! I've never seen her live - so jealous. Don't you just love her voice? Me too - I've never known a single person who didn't love her music. So super talented!
Hi there Ally! Long time no chat!
Thanks so much for dropping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment. I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the earth (which seems kind of hard to do given that picture you referenced...amazing!). I've been working on a new "project" over the last few weeks, and MAN! is it definitely taking a so much freaking time. I'm super excited about sharing with you + everyone else in the next few weeks!
I love these posts from you. It's when you're most honest and at your funniest! Feel free to brain dump on us anytime!
Hey Megan: Can't wait to read about this mysterious project you're working on! Thanks for the sweet comment, doll ;)
I feel the same way about Oprah. I certainly don't agree with some of her views like, "God is what you make of him" or "Open yourself to what the universe wants to bring you". But, I do like her "Next Chapter" series.
The first one I saw was with Joel Osteen. It was great! I was proud of him for not caving to her "all inclusive" ideas. She asked him at one point (paraphrased) "How do you feel someone can know God?" And he said, "There is only one way. You have to have a relationship with Him..." and he elaborated about Jesus being the only way.
Have a great weekend!
Hi, Ally! Great list! :)
I hope Jeff's travels have been going safely and that you and Bailey are doing well while he's away!
Madeleine Peyroux's voice is heavenly! It's such a relaxing Sunday melody.
xo,
Christi
Beth: Exactly. I admire greatly Oprah's philanthropy, but it's her twisted (unBiblical) view of God that's always disturbed me. But I loved her interview with Gov Christie. I'll check out the one with Joel Osteen, thanks!
Christi: Thanks so much Christi - Jeff is in Hong Kong working & loving every minute he's had to go exploring. Can't wait 'til he's home though :) Oh I agree, i love Madeleine's voice. She is so super talented!
Thanks for the sweet comments, Ladies!
Super behind on my blog reading, but I just had to say that I never minded being alone either, until I was married. In fact, I loved living on my own for a year, but now, even if it's just one night, I hate it!
Ginger: Right? It's weird I get so jumpy when Jeff's out of town. If I lived closer to my parents I'd stay at their house, haha. Hope you're having a great weekend!
