This is one of the few weekends that Jeff & I won't be at a Bama or UGA game, sadly. He's actually in New York on business at the moment & won't be back until Sunday. So I decided to get my fanny in gear and run a 10K for charity with my Myers Park Run Club. We're doing the Charlotte Hit The Brixx 10K benefiting Kid's Path, a pediatric hospice care center here in Charlotte. Does it not just break your heart to know that there's a need for hospice care for children? It's so beyond unfair. I freakin' hate cancer. Hopefully a lot of people entered this race so that a ton of $$ is raised for such a worthy cause. For my Charlotte readers, if you're not running but would like to donate, you can do so here or participate by being a Phantom Runner.

I've got 2 more races scheduled before my Girls' Ragnar Relay in November and my next half marathon in December, so I'm really looking to pick up my pace Saturday. I'm hoping the time I've been putting in at the pool, in Pure Barre, and on the trails lately have dramatically improved my endurance since my last 10K. I won the medal for mediocrity that day, let me tell you. More importantly, I'm hoping all the tailgating I've been doing lately won't cause me to pass out by mile 4. That'll be a victory in and of itself. But hey, win or lose, at least I'll be stylin' and profilin'. And that's really what's important, right Ladies? Seriously though, I think I put about as much thought into my Race day outfit as I did training. I kid ;)

So what are y'all doing this weekend? What games are you watching & who are you pulling for? Oh, and if any of y'all are in Charlotte this weekend & want to get up at the butt-crack of dawn to cheer me on, find me on 7th Street between College & Brevard, mmkay?

You make running look cute!! I look terrible when I run so I really should invest in some cuter gear.

Wish I lived in C-town, I'd totally come support you! Good luck and I can't wait to hear!!

Awe how sweet you are! That is just so awesome of you to run for this special cause. You are my hero girl. Children charities hold a special place in my heart we are big St. Jude fans! Not only are you super awesome for doing this but you my friend are going to look so cute while doing it! That is a double winner right there. Ally, O Ally you are truly amazing and I'm so thankful I have you as my BFF blogger friend!

good for you, running for charity! what a powerful (+ heartbreaking) cause. if there was ever something that could inspire me to get up + run, it would be that. we just have a regular weekend planned - cooking, hanging out with friends, maybe doing a sunday family dinner, going for a hike, the usual. =)

Ally, how did I not grasp the fact you are in Charlotte? With all your Alabama-ness I assumed you were there. We certainly need to meet up one day!!

Bink: I'm not the fastest or best runner out there by far, but yeah cute workout gear makes me want to hit the gym more, haha. You'd be amazed at what chic gear is available. Stella McCartney even has a line for adidas - and it's actually affordable. Shocking!. Thanks for the sweet comment, doll. Hope you're having a great week :)

Kelli: You are too good to me, sweet friend. Thanks for the encouragement! St Jude's is such an amazing place, right? Some friends from our church have a 3 yr old that was there for cancer treatments last year. The folks at St Jude's are God's angels - and I mean that quite literally. What a healing place of grace!! God bless you for supporting them.

Fearless Amy: I'm actually going to be in your neck of the woods in November for the Ragnar Relay - we need to get together for dinner or something!! A hike & a Sunday family dinner sounds divine. I wish we lived closer to family to have Sunday family dinners. I know yours will be fantastic!

Amy Bennett: You didn't know we live in Charlotte? Yes, definitely we need to get together! I'd love that :) My husband is the Bama grad & he's from Birmingham, but I'm a total Georgia girl - a UGA grad. We've been in Charlotte now for almost 2 years. And we love it here!

Good afternoon from Los Angeles!

Ally, you make running look soooo good. Honey, if I didn't have exercise-induced asthma (seriously, I did not make this up. It kind of sucks.)I would be out there with you. Cancer really is the most heinous of diseases. Both my mothern and little brother suffered from it, and the pain it brought them both, is enough to break my heart. Thank you for doing something that is good for you, to help others. It's a wonderful cause and I'm so proud of you!

Go team Ally!!

Warmly,

Elizabeth

Ha! Thanks Elizabeth ;)

I had no idea you have exercise-induced asthma. Oh gracious, that must be so frustrating. Running (or any cardio for that matter) is my stress outlet - I don't know what I would do without it.

My Mom had breast cancer, twice, and I've lost 2 friends to cancer. You're right, it's a heinous disease. I truly hope your Mom & brother are doing well! I've seen your Mom in a few pictures you've posted on your blog, btw. She is so beautiful & has such a great smile!

Thank you for the encouragement & sweet comment!

I didn't know you were a runner! Once I get my back issues together, I'm hoping to get back to my running schedule. It's been terrible not being able to exercise these past two weeks/
Can't wait to hear how the run goes!

Yeah girl! I've been running track (mostly cross country) since I was a freshman in high school. My heart is in trail running at the moment. My Daily Mile widget is on my sidebar - you must've missed it haha. If you're on Daily Mile, friend me - we'll talk training & workouts!

I love the Mission chafing cream...good stuff! I also love thier SPF lip balm. I haven't tried the suncreen- I'll have to grab some when I run out of my current. (I bought 3 so it may be a while, lol)

I have been needing some new earbuds- thanks for sharing these. I am going to seach them now!!

Good luck on your race, what an awesome cause!!

Kelly: Haha! That's what I'm sayin'. Great idea - If i bust in besting my PR Saturday I'll blame it on my new race shorts :)

Daphne: I used to go through ear buds once a month. Either they didn't stay on my ears or they hurt my lobes, or they didn't last. And then I tried Sennheiser buds. Holy toledo these things are awesome! The sticker price is hefty, but I've already seen a return on my investment. They're wonderful!

I haven't used Mission's chaffing cream, but I'll definitely look into it for my half this December. I love their sunscreen! It's not greasy & I don't have to reapply as often.

Thanks Ladies for all of your great comments & encouragement - I truly appreciate it!

I can't wait to hear how well the conference goes this weekend Kristin. I don't know how you have the time to do all these things, including running Bon Bon AND being an awesome Wife & Mom. I hope it's tremendously successful & y'all have a great time!!
